Who is behind hf-uhf.eu
My name is Andrei and I run this site solo from Ida-Virumaa, Estonia. I have been a licensed radio amateur for over 30 years.
My first callsign was UR2RLH during the Soviet era. In 1992, after Estonian independence, I received ES4RLH, and I currently operate as ES4AW.
On the air
I am active on all HF bands from 160m through 6m. Over the years I have confirmed 241 DXCC entities via Logbook of the World and hold all major ARRL awards — DXCC Mixed, Phone, Digital, and the DXCC Challenge with over 1400 band credits.
My main transceivers are the Kenwood TS-480SAT and Kenwood TS-2000. Most of my antennas are homemade ground plane verticals — built, tuned, and tested from scratch. Working a new DXCC entity on an antenna you built yourself is a different kind of satisfaction.
Why this site exists
When the local club dissolved, I kept the site running. What started as a club bulletin board has grown into something I genuinely enjoy — a place to document what 30 years of amateur radio looks like in practice.
You will find contest results, SOTA and POTA activation logs, practical guides on antennas and digital modes, and an active forum community. Everything here comes from real operating experience, not theory.
What you will find here
- Contests — ES Open HF, Field Day, Minitest, Straight Key — rules and results
- Activations — SOTA and POTA logs from Estonia
- Articles — antennas, FT8/WSPR setup, SDR receivers, operating tips
- Forum — active discussion in Russian and Estonian
- Useful tools — Estonian bandplan, prefix map, WebSDR, PSK Reporter, DX cluster
