David, VK6DS, plans to be active as VK9DS from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands on 20–27 November 2026. Right after that, from 28 November to 4 December 2026, the same callsign will be on the air from Christmas Island.
This is a holiday-style operation, and on both islands the operator plans to include activations from WWFF and POTA sites. He says details of the specific sites will be posted on the VK9DS page on QRZ.
Bands: 80–6 m. Modes: SSB, CW and FT8.
QSL: logs will be uploaded to Club Log and QRZ once the operator is back home. Nothing has been announced yet about LoTW, OQRS or paper QSL cards.
The Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the Indian Ocean are a separate DXCC entity, so VK9DS is worth looking out for if you still need it.
