KH8A is the callsign of a German DXpedition to American Samoa (IOTA OC-045). A nine-operator team plans to be on the air from 30 October to 12 November 2026 from Tutuila, the territory's main island, grid AH45OP.
The team is DJ9KH, DK5WL, DL1KWK, DL2RNS, DL4SVA, DL6KAC, DL6KVA, DL7JOM and DL7VEE — the same group behind T2C, C21MM and V6D. They will operate from the same QTH used by KH8T two years ago.
Bands and modes
Four stations will be QRV around the clock on 160–6m in CW, SSB, FT8 and RTTY. Europe, some 15,000 km away, is the main target, but the team promises not to forget North America and Asia, especially on the low bands and SSB. The goal is 70,000 QSOs.
Because of airline schedule changes, the team will spend two days less on the island than originally planned.
Equipment
Elecraft K4 transceivers will drive amplifiers of 400–800 W. On 20–10m the team will use a full-size two-element, five-band LZ-Antenna wire beam with a pentaplexer; the other bands get carefully tuned single-band antennas. Masts and fiberglass poles are from Spiderbeam.
Log and QSL
Daily log uploads to Club Log are planned, and a livestream may run if conditions allow. Paper QSLs and LoTW are handled via Club Log OQRS or through QSL manager DL4SVA. Paper cards are expected to be printed by Christmas.
